Aruvikkara Dam

It is on the banks of the serene Karamana River is this lovely picnic destination called Aruvikkara. The place is popular for its verdant surroundings, a beautiful dam, and the Durga temple. Near the temple is a meandering stream replete with fish that quite fearlessly swim close to the shore in schools to have the crumbs thrown in by the visitors. The fish here are considered holy, and feeding them is believed to cure ailments such as warts, whiteheads and blemishes on the skin. Boating facilities are available at the reservoir.
Stroll the length of the stream, feed the fish, soak up the greenery, stop to take pictures and simply enjoy the breeze. Aruvikkara Dam offers an idyllic setting to enjoy a day out with your family in Trivandrum. Feeding the fish at the stream here is believed to cure skin ailments. The site is peaceful, and free of irritants.
Location: About 16 kilometers (10 miles) from Trivandrum.
